Forged Line

Forged Line is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the sea and the resilience and strength of enduring love. Inspired by my husband's journey as a Boatswain Mate in the United States Navy and our remarkable 23 years together, this sculpture embodies the intertwined narratives of maritime tradition and personal devotion.

Drawing from the rugged beauty of naval life and the unyielding resolve found in the rigging of maritime vessels, Forged Line pays homage to the seamanship and camaraderie that define the sailor's experience. Each twist of the rope represents the bond between sailor and sea and the enduring bond between two souls weathering life's storms together.

Through the meticulous process of sand and resin molding, I captured the essence of a two-inch rope, immortalizing its timeless elegance in iron. This piece departs from my previous work with rebar, yet it retains the same spirit of transformation and metamorphosis.

Forged Line invites viewers to reflect not only on the interconnectedness of past and present, tradition and innovation, but also on the enduring power of love and partnership. In its circular form, it symbolizes the continuity and unity that have defined our journey together—a reminder that, despite the ever-changing tides of life, we remain anchored by the threads of our experiences, forging ahead with unwavering resolve and boundless affection.
